The Pimsleur technique works! Mar 15, 2008
By Jill O'Neal When I learned that there was a foreign language learning DVD with the Pimsleur name attached, I bought the 3 pack set without blinking an eye. I wasn't disappointed!
Little Pim is designed specifically for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and their parents. It uses immersion and interaction in a fun and engaging way with a cute little animated panda, named Pim, as the main character who guides the learning. Each learning section starts with Pim in a short animated skit, then transitions to real children going through everyday activities that are narrated by Pim. The voice of Pim is crisp and clear and the quality of the video is superb.
I've bought a lot of French language learning DVDs, and none come close to Little Pim. My (almost) three year old really likes the little panda and his bamboo soup, or should I say, "soupe de bamboo" :-), and just this morning at breakfast, used a phrase from one of the DVDs.
I would highly recommend this DVD set to anyone interested in teaching their toddlers and preschoolers a foreign language.

Fun and lively May 16, 2008
By J. Washburn We are trying to teach our toddler son French and have found this DVD set so helpful. He has been listening to French children's songs since he was six months and truly appears to have an interest in it. Seeing it on a screen with other children and the animation has heightened that interest. He will stop what he is doing and watch the DVDs. We watch one a day with him and participate along with Pim in saying each word, not just with the DVD but also around the house.
My mother now uses some of the phrases from the DVD with our son and she normally dislikes learning languages, but from the first viewing was speaking to our son in French!
Pim offers introductory French words through immersion. You hear a word, which appears on the screen, and then it is played out. For instance, Pim will say "une pomme" and then you will see an apple. Pim will say "Elle mange une pomme" and you will see a girl eating an apple and so forth. While not fluent, I am able to understand (or guesstimate, on the occasion) the words and relate them to the actions of the children. There are also English subtitles.
I think this set is the perfect compliment to other French language material for both children and adults when learning to speak French.

Pimsleur for Toddlers Jun 24, 2008

I speak French with my daughter almost exclusively. My husband and her babysitters speak to her in English. This DVD set is an excellent supplement to my efforts. It is a modern, high quality production, with interesting images and just the right pace to keep a toddler engaged. Lots of kids and babies to capture a little one's interest.
I have enjoyed Pimsleur for adults (learning Italian) and find their methods to work just as well with children (introduction of a word, followed by lots of use in different contexts).

My daughter loves it! Jun 25, 2010
By P. Lee I bought this for my now 22 month old 2 months ago. I don't allow her to watch TV and this is the only DVD she has, but nonetheless, she LOVES it. Every morning she'll ask "little pim please mommy!". I have tried to teach her french from books prior to this and she does have a large french vocabulary, but I have been so far and long removed from speaking to other french natives that I was afraid that my accent wouldn't be quite right.
I love how multi cultural little pim is and how it's broken up into seven 5 min intervals. She finds the cartoon pim hilarious and I love how there's NOT a lot of music blaring and quick cuts from one image to another.
My only gripe would be that I wish it would be more in depth. I allow her to watch through the dvds twice a day max, but she's almost mastered them and I'm not sure what to do next with her. I'll probably buy the next 3 DVDs and then even try them in spanish.

My 19 month old has been watching these dvds since about 14 months old and they really hold baby's attention. I would also recommend Professor Toto dvds by The Language Workshop for Children. We can't wait for more Little Pim dvds to come out, they are really entertaining for baby and are full French immersion.
